Five Kinds Of Dessert Pizza You Have To Try

Pizza is the perfect meal, especially if you eat it with both meat and vegetable toppings. You get something from each of the major food groups when you consume pizza. For those of you that prefer your pizza to be a variant of an old favorite, there is dessert pizza too.  Here are five kinds of dessert pizza you absolutely should try.

Fruit Pie Filling Dessert Pizza

This is one of the easiest dessert pizzas to make. All you need is a pie crust dough flattened into a circle and your favorite fruit pie filling. Cook the dough as you would for any pie. Then spread the filling across the crust. Bake again for a few minutes until the filling starts to bubble just a little. Pipe sugar icing across the top if desired and serve.

Fresh Fruit Pizza

This is a classic dessert pizza. You will need a circle of sugar cookie dough for the crust, and strawberry cream cheese for the "sauce." Cook the cookie crust. Then spread the cream cheese on it while it is still a little warm. Refrigerate. Cut up your favorite fruits in slices. Place the slices in any arrangement you want across your "pizza' and serve.

Candyland Dessert Pizza

This is a treat the kids will love at the next birthday party, but watch out! It is loaded with a ton of sugary goodness! Start with a chocolate chip cookie dough "crust" baked to perfection. Ice with whatever frosting you want. Top with your favorite candies or chopped up candy bars.

Brownies a la Mode Dessert Pizza

Start by baking a thin layer of brownies, about an inch thick, no thinner and no thicker. Using a jelly roll pan for this works really well. You can leave it in rectangle form or cut a circle out of it for a more pizza-like shape. While still warm, top with a thin layer of your favorite ice cream. Top that with liquid toppings and whatever other ice cream toppings you love.

Seven Layer Bars Cut in Pizza Form

Seven layer bars are essentially dessert pizza already. They have a crust, a sweetened-condensed milk "sauce," toasted coconut, butterscotch bits, chocolate chips, etc. To present this as a dessert pizza, you merely have to bake it in a round shape or cut a circle out of a rectangle and then cute the circle into perfect pizza slices.
